14: Book Fair Week

November 4, 2018

Dear Thrasher Families,

Can you believe it’s November already? I’m thankful for Picture Retakes coming on Wednesday. (*whew*)

The 5th Graders knocked-it-out-of-the-park with their Project-Based Learning unit, the Living History Museum at McCoy Farm and Gardens! Great job kids, teachers, and parents! Even though it was cold, everyone gave an amazing performance. We are so proud!

Picture Retakes

Students will need to bring their original picture packet with them to receive a retake.  Any students who were absent on picture day, September 26, or new students since then should also have their pictures taken.  Lifetouch will start at 8:30 on the stage.

Book Fair is Here!

Here’s the scoop from Mrs. Johnston:

·       Monday, Nov 5th – Kindergarten, multi-age and first graders are invited to join us for Merry Monday Morning with Moms from 8-10am; hot coffee and a special guest appearance from Clifford the Big red Dog while you shop. Start the SMSS Can Drive for all grades by collecting hearty soups and Beefaroni type canned goods. The drop off boxes will be in the cafeteria.

·       Tuesday – Nov. 6th - “Vote For Books Day” – Students can vote for their favorite book at the fair. Winners will be announced Wednesday.

·       Wednesday, Nov 7th – Parents are invited to shop for books/gifts for the holidays from 2-3:00pm sans children. (Shhh - it is a secret.) Don’t forget to bring your cans and support the contest between the “Souper Dragons” and the “Unicans”. The school wide goal is at least 300 cans of Hearty Soups vs Beefaroni or Spaghetti-O’s. *If we meet our goal of 300+ cans Mr. Paulson has agreed we can have a Crazy Hat Day on 11/20/18.

o   8:15 - Welcome songs by multi-age students on the cafeteria stage

o   8:30 – 8:50 - 3rd graders perform patriotic songs on the cafeteria stage

Sometimes, Grandparents tell us they have your permission to dismiss children from school. If we don’t have their names on our dismissal forms, we can’t dismiss the children to them. If you are planning on letting a grandparent dismiss your child, please make sure their name is on our form! Thank you!
