17: Most Wonderful Time of the Year

December 2, 2018

Dear Thrasher Families,

Be sure to check out the lost-and-found area (and remind your child to check). Enough coats have accumulated that we’re beginning to look like a wholesale retailer!

Remember the Date

·       Dec. 4 – 6PM – PTA, 4th Grade Program

·       Dec. 6 – 2nd Grade Field Trip to the Tivoli

·       Dec. 7 – 1PM - Dedicate the Thrasher Learning Trail to Connie McDade

·       Dec. 8 – Basket Day @ Nolan – We pack food/health items in baskets for SM Social Services. Put this on your calendar and come join us!

Looking Ahead…

·       Dec. 14 – YSSW Entries due to the Teacher

·       Dec. 13 – Full Day for Students

·       Dec. 19 – Put the Year to Rest Day – ½ DAY for students (dismiss at 11:35)

Nature Trail on Friday

The entire school will walk the new nature trail on Friday (weather permitting). This will be part of an afternoon assembly to honor the memory of teacher Connie McDade. Mrs. McDade was an influential teacher at Thrasher. On Friday, we’ll ask all students to wear a UT shirt, an orange shirt, or a Thrasher shirt. Also, shoes that are appropriate to walking in the woods will be a good idea. We’ll provide an orange bandana for each student to wear as well.

What we Need from You:

·       If you want your child to opt out of walking the trail, please let the teacher know. We have a couple teachers that will be taking care of children who do not wish to walk the trail.

·       I need a parent or two who is willing to rake/blow leaves off the trail before Friday. Please contact me for details. (Thank you!)

Art Supplies Needed

You’ve probably heard from your child how much kids are enjoying art class. The art room is running quite low on supplies. If you’d like to send some specific items to Mrs. Underwood for upcoming projects, please click here!

SACC during Winter Break

Thrasher’s SACC will be closed during the winter break. Families that need to make use of SACC can access it at Nolan.

Buses & Kindergarten

The bus driver needs to see a parent/guardian of Kindergarten students. If no one is available to meet the Kindergarten student at the stop, the bus driver will bring the student back to Thrasher.

Please be advised that the construction on Signal Mtn Blvd has been completed. Bus 12 will resume serving the stops in the Sunset Drive/Balmoral Drive/Lower Brow Road area.

Thank You

In the past few weeks, you have reminded me how important an involved parent community is. You support your children (our students) with school work, with character development, and social skills. You encourage our teachers, and you support each other in the great work of providing a high-quality education. Thank you!
