20: Happy New Year!

January 6, 2019

Bright Spot

Welcome back! We’re are looking forward to having our students/your children back in the building Monday.

·       Remember to give yourself an extra five minutes or so to get going in the morning. It seems things always go a little slower on a first day of school after a break.

·       We’d like all students inside classroom doors by 8:05.

·       Be sure to check lunch accounts if students are purchasing meals this week.

·       Remember to use the car line at the back of the school.

·       The front drive is reserved for buses.

4th Grade has a field trip Thursday, so be looking for those permission slips right away!

Climate & Culture Survey

HCDE will be participating in the State of Tennessee’s comprehensive climate and culture survey for schools. (This is different and more in-depth than the District 2 survey many of you took last month.)

HCDE is aiming for as close to 100% participation as possible. There will be surveys for:

·       Parents

·       Students

·       Teachers

The survey will open in two weeks. If you do NOT want your student to participate in the survey, please print this Participation Denial Form and sent it back to your child’s teacher by January 18th.

We’ll send out a link when it’s available, and we hope you’ll be willing to chime in!

Thank you all so much for all the cards, letters, and notes your children gave to teachers this season. PTA’s Teacher Appreciation team also had each faculty member select a $10 gift card to enjoy. A major part of keeping low teacher turnover and a stable learning environment is community support. Teaching is really hard work, and the affirmations/encouragements you give our team are extremely welcome. Thank you!
