Panther Parent

Week 5 – September 8th, 2019

You’ve heard by now: Thrasher is a top-performing school again this year. We’re at the top of Hamilton County and the top of the state of Tennessee. Thrasher has very high achievement and the highest level of academic growth. This is a result of extremely capable teachers with a focus on instruction that matters, parents that support their children and their school, and a community that rallies around its schools. If we can keep teachers, parents, and community united in supporting its students academically, behaviorally, and emotionally, we will be a top-drawer school again next year!

We have some letters of commendation to share with you from Senator Bo Watson and Representative Patsy Hazelwood. (They will come in a separate email.)

Homecoming Parade Float

We need someone who can head up a parade float for Thrasher. If you would enjoy this creative challenge, please let me know soon. Applications are due September 13th. The parade is September 19th.

Coupon Books

I made a mistake last week. Monday is the last turn-in day for coupon books that can earn prizes. We have about 300 to sell. Thrasher is required to purchase every coupon book we don’t sell, so we really want these to go to good use! If you haven’t bought a coupon book yet, please consider purchasing one today!

Open House

We hope to see you at Open House on Tuesday at 6PM. We’ll be open from 6:00 – 7:00. Parking is scarce. You can park in any parking spot, anywhere in the back (car rider pick-up area), by the soccer field (off of Cunningham), and (if it doesn’t rain between now and then) on the soccer field. Please avoid parking on the grass at the front of the school. We want this to be a nice-looking place for kids to come to school.

If you purchase a yearbook before September 30th, you can get 15% off! Go to and use code: 101489169935961.

Clubs start in September! Most clubs are for 3rd-5th grade, but a few are open to younger students. All club attendees must be signed up for after care. Information should be coming home in backpacks from each club.

MEF Events

Put the Celebration for Education on your calendar for October 25th. Every MEF event has been a fantastic and worth event in its own right, and they also earn funds that support our kids in the Signal Mountain schools. A good time had by all and better resources for our students – a magic combination. Come and have fun!

All the best,
