Dismissal App – For 100% of parents

Every parent should have received an email from “Thrasher Elementary School” to log in to the new School Dismissal Manager. We need all parents to do this and select a Default Way Home. If you need new login info, email me.

Once all parents have done this, you will get some wonderful benefits.

  • You will be able to indicate how your child goes home on the website or the app.
  • Until 2pm each day, you will be able to change how your child goes home via the website or the app.
  • Every teacher and administrator will get an email update each afternoon with finalized dismissal details from you.

This only works once all parents have signed in and updated their info. The link and login info is in your email. Search for “Thrasher Elementary” or “School Dismissal Manager”. If you can’t find it, let me know.

AM Car Line – Super Important for Tuesday Morning

Our update to the car line is to go back to the way things were. We’re not too proud to announce that our “improvement” to the car line didn’t work.

  1. Morning Car Line will revert to last year’s procedures starting Tuesday after Labor Day.

If you were here last year, you know what to do. If you’re new to Thrasher this year, here’s how it works:
    1. Pull into the car line as you have been.
    2. ONLY THE FIRST 6 CARS in line will allow passengers to exit.
    3. ALL CHILDREN will enter on the cafeteria side. Children will not be crossing the parking lot.
    4. Once your car doors are closed and the car in front of you is gone, you may carefully exit the parking lot. You do not need to wait on a signal.

      This starts Tuesday.

  2. We ask parents to follow one path for the car line for both morning and afternoon times.
    1. Enter James Blvd at the entrance near the W Road. (Please do not cut into the line from side streets such as Albert or Miles.) We realize it is slightly more inconvenient, but the safety benefit outweighs the convenience.
    2. Only turn RIGHT onto Thrasher’s property. Only turn RIGHT to exit. No LEFT TURNS during arrival or dismissal.

Student Lunch to be Free

The USDA is now funding all student lunches. There have been a lot of questions about this. All I know to say is “All means all”. Every child may elect to eat a school lunch funded via the USDA.

Announcements and Assemblies for @ Home

If you have a student taking Option 2 and you want to use our daily announcements to launch your learning day, you can find those announcements on https://thrasher.hcde.org under the “Parents” tab. On Fridays, you can use this tab to access the weekly assembly as well.

Spanish Course for Kids

I have been working for three years to get a Spanish related arts class at Thrasher. While I have not been successful in this yet, I have the next best thing for you now.

Do you want your kids to experience a Spanish immersion course created by one of the best teachers I have ever met? You can join it here: https://hcde.instructure.com/enroll/KFKKLF

Grades 3 – 5 are already in Canvas, so this should be easy to join.

If you have a K-2 student, you can also join the course if you sign up for a Canvas account. The course may take more adult participation for K-2 kids, but the course is designed with K-5 kids in mind. Let me know if you need help.

COVID 19

Hamilton County Schools has designed a very specific set of responses, communications, and actions that will occur in the event of a COVID-19 case in a building. Thrasher is updated on these items throughout the week. We are following and will continue to follow these protocols. We are in daily contact with our department of education and the health department. If there is a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 that may impact our Thrasher community, you will be notified swiftly.

All the best,
