Phase-In Days
Hamilton County kindergarten students do not come to school every day for the first week of school. HCS (Hamilton County Schools) uses a “Phase-In” approach in August.
At Thrasher, kindergarten students are not placed in a specific teacher’s class until after the first two Phase-In Days are completed. The kindergarten teachers spend Phase-In getting to know the students. Then they use the screening scores and observations of each student to place them in the class they feel is the best fit for the kindergartener. The phase-in schedule is as follows:
August 7th- First Day of school for everyone except Kindergarten
August 8th- Kindergarten Phase In Day 1 (Last names A-L will attend school 8:40am-3:40pm)
August 9th- NO SCHOOL FOR HCDE (Teacher PD Day)
August 12th- Kindergarten Phase In Day 2 (Last names M-Z will attend school 8:40am-3:40pm)
August 13th- NO KINDERGARTEN STUDENTS (Teachers will assign class rolls)
August 14th- Kindergarten Phase In Day 3 (1/2 of homeroom class will attend school 8:40am-3:40pm)
August 15th- Kindergarten Phase In Day 4 (1/2 of homeroom class will attend school 8:40am-3:40pm)
August 16th- All kindergarteners come!
You can always email or give us a call about anything.
